Yep. We've got amazing grazing, grass-eating, happy pigs.
A farm that supports people to (a) reclaim their health,
(b) enjoy classic and clean food, and (c) experience more wonder and wellness
Food at the grocery store seems to be getting worse. It seems like forever chemicals, pesticides, GMO’s, chronic diseases, and prices are increasing, while small local farms, nutritional content and natural flavors in our foods are decreasing.

That's leaving concerned families and communities around me frustrated and concerned about our conventional food system. I mean, "What’s going on here. What’s really in our food?"
I believe most people want to feel good about the food they eat.

At Hoedown Farm, we collaborate with creation to grow good food to support people on their journey to (a) reclaim their health, (b) enjoy classic and clean food, and (3) experience more wonder and wellness.

In particular, we offer amazing grazing pork from pigs that eat grass and hay. They are like sheep that make bacon. We also offer food-based tips and insights to support your transformation into a more healthy and confident food buyer and cook.
Why should I choose your pork over Costco, Whole Foods, Safeway, or King Soopers?
  • Local, like really, really local
Pastured Pork raised in Lafayette, CO and supporting a local farm, small business and economy.
  • Grass Fed
  • Supplemented with locally grown, non-gmo, no corn, no soy grains
Our pigs love grass and we diversify their diet with soaked grain, sourced from a local feed mill, offering more palatable and digestible nutrition.
  • Your cuts, your way
When you order from a farmer and butcher you get to choose what kind of sausage you get, how thick the bacon and chops should be, what size packages the ground and roast should be, and what kind of ribs should be cut.
  • It's a Family Affair
From our family to yours, we all take turns feeding and entertaining the piglets. Our care and love go into providing you and yours with nourishment and joy through our pork.
  • Oh Good Lard
These pigs are considered "Old World" or lard pigs which have more fat than modern conventional pigs. You can request the processor to set some lard aside for cooking and other purposes. We are honored to provide grass-based lard to support your explorations of the health claims of lard and your creative adventures.
How It Works
Here's the process at high level in 3 easy steps.
You sign up with a deposit
You pay a deposit on our store page for either a half pig or a whole pig and we will reserve your share of the pig and provide you with details.
You pay the balance for pig and select your cuts
After a steady stream of good grass days, the time come for one bad day. We will bring the pig to the processor. That week, I will send you an invoice for the remaining balance for the pig. After prompt payment, I will send you cutting instructions for the half or a whole hog for the processor, where you fill out how you want your grass-fed pork packaged, cured, "sausaged" and/or wrapped to your liking. You will complete the cuts and preferences sheet and send it back to us.
You pay the processor and fire up the grill!
About 7 days after you provide your cutting instructions, the processor, Arapahoe Meat Company, will contact you, telling you that your order is ready. You'll pay them and take home your order. That's it. Now, you are ready to start or restart new delicious and nutritious cooking adventures.
What if I just want a small order?
Sure thing. We go you covered!
Can I get a 1/4 Share of a Pig?
Yes, we have a 1/4 share of a pig on our store page. When neatly packed it fills up one reusable, woven plastic shopping bag.
Is the process the same as above?
The process is simpler. It's just one price and one payment for the pig and the processing. There's more information on the order page.

About us and the pigs
We've been growing our food for about 10 years, starting with a veggie garden and then chickens, and then it's all downhill from there. Over the years we've raised ducks, turkeys, and geese for friends and family to enjoy. Now we are embracing pigs in our joy and honor to grow good food for our family and other families in our community.

These pigs are Idaho Pasture Pigs. It's one of the newest pig breeds. They are an awesome, docile/friendly, grass eating, fast growing pig. Follow the links to discover more about the breed and meat quality.

The pigs are currently offering were born around April of 2024. They will be going to the butcher at the end of February or March of 2025. Sign up with a deposit if interested in half a pig or a whole pig.
